Finding The Perfect Carpet Cleaner
If you want to buy your own carpet shampoo machine then there are several factors to consider when making that purchase. The first characteristic you need to decide on is the width of your carpet shampooer. Different brands and different models come with different widths. How wide your carpet machine is can make a big difference in how easy it is to clean your carpets. Obviously, the wider the machine, the less passes it will take to clean a room. However, you need to balance that with the fact that extra wide machines have a hard time maneuvering around furniture, getting into corners, and in tight spaces. If your machine is too wide to get between two pieces of furniture you might have to remove the furniture from the room in order to clean the carpets. That much work might cancel out the fact that a less wide machine might mean four or five more passes over the room.
The next feature to consider on your carpet shampooer is the type of brush that it has. There are two varieties including fixed brushes and a rotating brush system. The rotating brush system is a better choice to fight tough stains and get a thorough cleaning. The rotating brushes will scrub deep down in the carpet and work very well to remove stains. The downside of the rotating brush system is the fact that all of that friction and vigorous scrubbing could be damaging to your carpet. Especially if you have a particularly delicate carpet, the fixed brushes might be a better idea. The rotating brushes could pull snags in your carpet or even tear it after a lot of use. Another plus of fixed brush models is that they are typically less expensive. They are not a bad option, you just might have to do some more targeted stain fighting if you have a fixed brush carpet shampoo machine.
Finally, the attachments and versatility of the machine are very important to consider. If you are buying a piece of cleaning equipment like this, you want it to have as much versatility as possible. Check for attachments that make the cleaning equipment safe to use on upholstery or window treatments. Look for extra hoses or extra long power cords so that you will be able to move around with more freedom. Some carpet cleaners even have settings where you can use them to clean hardwood or tile floors.
