Large Clocks

Many people never think to replace their wall clocks with easier to read, larger designs as they grow older. Declining eye sight is a natural part of becoming old, and because this happens gradually you may not notice that you need to squint to read the time from across the room. Of course you can get some prescription spectacles – but fro practical reasons this may not be a great solution.

Replacing your existing wall clocks with extra large clocks is a simple thing to do – the new clock can just be hung on the original hanger, without any hassles.

What should you look for in a new clock? For obvious reasons you want a large face – at least 12 inches across, or even more in some cases. White is the traditional favourite color for clocks, and does remain the easiest to read. You will want to choose a model that has large, clear numbers or roman numerals that provide a good contrast to the color of the face.

An alternative to a new large wall clock is to get a large digital wall clock. This can have several advantages – digital wall clocks are quicker and easier to read, especially if they are lit from inside the clock in low light conditions. A digital clock that is about six inches square will display the time in 4 to 5 inch high numbers – a much bigger size to view than the relatively small numbers printed on an analogue clock. A digital wall clock also has the advantage of lasting longer between battery changes, adding practicality to being easy to read.

The best place to buy large clocks is in online stores specializing in clocks. Although retail clock businesses will sell a wide variety of models, they don’t usually have a big  range of overly large, easy to read models. Online stores are able to give significant discounts too, providing not only greater choice but better value.
